Madison West Rail Corridor
Project Overview
The Madison Rail corridor project was done for my Housing and Urban Design Class. The project was to take a part of Madison, WI that is connected to the UW campus and next to the new Badger Basketball Arena and redesign it to facilitate a combination of new retail and new housing. The site also had an old rail system which was to be proposed to become a mass transportation system. It was proposed to become the "Madison Rail Corridor". The requirements of the project included using Duplex housing, Townhouse Apartments (Two Stories), Apartment Complexes (Three Stories), and Apartment Complexes (Six Stories). Larger Buildings could also be used if there was convincing reasons for them. All housing units that were used had to be defined why and where they were to be placed. The last requirement was the number of people that housing needed to be designed for. The number of people that was required for the site was housing for 1200 - 1400 people. The type of units required to be used were up to the design but all the types must be incorporated into the design.
